CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Dan Severson, the retired Navy commander and Top Gun fighter pilot, who is running for Florida’s 19th Congressional district, has received an A rating and is supported by the National Rifle Association (NRA), Florida’s Right to Life Political Action Committee, and the Christian Family Coalition Florida, the campaign announced Friday.
All three mentions of support and ratings were announced earlier this week.
The NRA gave Severson an “A” rating based on his previous legislative experience. Florida Right to Life Political Action Committee gave Severson a “Support- A Rating” and pledged to endorse the candidate following the primary election, should he win.
Also, the Christian Family Coalition Florida announced their support via their 2020 Collier County primary Election Voter Guide. Severson was one of the four candidates they chose to support out of the 11 running.
Severson is the most ardent pro-gun supporter of the 2nd amendment running in the race and is also a major proponent of legislation supporting servicemembers and veterans.
Additionally, Severson has been endorsed by the conservative Republican former Minnesota governor, Tim Pawlenty, Michael Johns, the co-founder and leader of the National Tea Party Movement, and Clint Lorance, the Army officer who was recently pardoned by President Donald J. Trump.
Florida’s 19th Congressional district covers Cape Coral, Ft. Myers, Estero, Marco Island and Naples.
